Javi
Bauer, is a Montserrat College of Art graduate, where his palette was
nurtured by many of New England's most esteemed artists. By the time
Bauer graduated from Montserrat in 1995 with his Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree, he was keenly motivated. In less than a year his distinctive
work broke out onto the Boston art scene. Bauer has distinctive and
innovative style of portraying the human form. Not concerned with portraying
ideal beauty, but rather the human condition in all of its forms.
Javier Bauer, reflecting on the development of his own style states
"After studying paintings by Lucian Freud and Chuck Close, I realized
I needed to be more honest with my work and portray people as they are."
The resulting portraits engage the viewer with their depth and emotional
openness.
